Adjustable choke valve is a type of valve used to control the flow rate of fluids and gases, particularly in oil and gas applications. It achieves this by varying the size of an opening (orifice) through which the fluid passes, thus regulating the pressure and flow rate. Unlike fixed choke valves, adjustable chokes allow for dynamic control and can be adjusted to accommodate changing flow conditions.

Adjustable choke valve is classified into needle-type adjustable, barrel-type adjustable and orifice feature in design; Needle type is mainly used for Christmas tree assembly,and barrel for choke manifold.

Adjustable chokes provide variable flow rates, but can be locked into position if a fixed flow rate is required.
